AN UNEXPECTED CHANCE :
MAKING THE MOST OF THE MOMENT

When the world was dealing with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, a surprising opportunity came our way. With extra free time during quarantine and support from the government, we revisited the idea for the kit. The plan included getting and learning to use professional power tools, and carefully documenting each action taken on the wood. We set clear guidelines: stick to the van’s factory holes and only craft shapes manageable by electrical wood tools.

With a strong belief and a lot of hard work, we built our own 30m2 workshop. We did this at the same time than creating our DIY kit. We wanted a workshop so we wouldn't have to work outside anymore. In the beginning, Gino used to set up his work space under a hidden area of our apartment complex every day. Building our workshop ourselves showed us that the DIY principle is at the core of our business. It challenges us to ask, "Can I do this myself?" Maybe, so it's worth trying! The design of the kit took shape over 15 months.

Thinking ahead, we carefully recorded every step of this detailed process in a 3D program. This forward-looking approach set the groundwork for creating an exact and repeatable model, making sure that all the knowledge gained during the build could be used in the future.

The Vancrafters commitment to quality in the materials used but also in the way everything is so thoughtfully designed is amazing and like nothing we have seen. It transforms the van into a home away from home.  Made for ease, enjoyment and freedom. Details and design matter and come to life in the awesome interior. We love our van - the freedom, the comfort, the vibe. It's an amazing experience and so worth the investment.
